We stayed at this hotel in early May 2011. Athens was our last stop in Greece after Mykonos and Santorini. It was a bit tough going from 2 smaller, relaxed islands back to a big metropolitan city. In hindsight, we should have probably done Athens first. Although, a lot of people recommended keeping Athens last to ensure that you don’t miss your international return flight connection.
The Intercontinental Athens is located about 10 minutes away from the city center by car. This hotel was huge! During our stay, there were a couple conferences and some tour groups. The area around the hotel didn’t look that nice, but we didn’t really walk around the hotel much. The nice thing about this hotel is that they provide free shuttle to Plaka area (city center) every hour, which was great. We definitely took advantage of the shuttle during our stay!
Service in general was great, nothing to really complain about.
The hotel room was huge and nicely renovated. Not sure if all the rooms have been renovated, since some floors looked older, but we definitely got a renovated room. Breakfast buffet was included in our rate and it was such a huge spread. There definitely was something for everyone.
- Athens Walking Tour was very informative and fun. Definitely do this!
- We had a wonderful dinner at Varoulko, which is a 1 star Michelin restaurant. It definitely did not disappoint!
