Remezzo Villa

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in May 2011. I found this hotel on Trip Advisor since it was rated pretty high on the list for hotels in Imerovigli. Imerovigli is around 20-25 minutes walk from the main town of Fira. If you prefer not to walk too far, then it’s better to stay closer to town. The walk could be tiring, especially at night when you have had a full day and just want to get to your hotel asap. However, I must say that the views and sunsets from Imerovigli were really breathtaking.

We booked the superior studio and got confused between this category and the superior suite category. All the pictures I saw were actually the superior suite, but I mistakenly booked the studio. The studio was quite small, but the balcony was large and view was wonderful. The bathroom also looked modern and upgraded. Looking back, I would have booked at a minimum the senior suite, which wasn’t that much more expensive compared to the superior studio. The senior suite will provide that “cave” like setting. The studio was just a little too small and the furnishings could use some updating.

Vassilis was always very gracious and helpful in planning our itinerary and answering questions. His reccommendations for food and activities were excellent. The few times we strayed away from his recommendation, we regretted our choice and realized we should have listened to whatever he recommended.

As far as activities, we went to Fira town and did the volcano tour. The next day, we rented a car to drive around the island (red sand beach, black sand beach, Oia).

We had a great stay in Santorini and wished that we had stayed for at least 1 more night. You probably need at least 3 full days to really enjoy what Santorini has to offer.

Suggested Activities in Santorini:

  • Walk around Oia and watch the magical sunset

  • Volcanic tour: This tour took us to the volcano for a hike, and then swim on the warm springs.

  • Visit many of the wonderful boutique wineries

  • Enjoy the red sand or black sand beaches in Santorini
